Visiting Sebonac Golf Club in Long Island, NY.  Always happy on the links, this picture was taken during an exploratory trip to the eastern end of Long Island to study the best examples of classic and modern golf course architecture.  Forever a student of the game, Jeffrey has immersed himself in the world's best golf courses through playing and working with the top architects in the field of golf design.

Jeffrey Stein

Port Chester, NY

In 2009, Jeffrey was selected for Tom Doak's prestigious internship program with Renaissance Golf Design.  There, he was privileged to on-site design training with Tom Doak and his associates.  The auspicious start to Jeffrey's career in golf architecture was highlighted by his participation at the Old Macdonald Golf Links at Bandon Dunes and Dismal River Golf Club, both named best new golf courses, respectively, by Golf Magazine.  These experiences left a lasting impression on his personal design philosophy and created a platform upon which to rise within the field of golf course design.

Starting as an intern with Tom Doak was a perfect entry point to the design business as he was able to learn from the ground level, while applying his unique artistic talents to the golf course.  Primarily, Jeffrey is an avid golfer, having played competitively through high school and college, for the Brandeis University Mens golf team.  However, Jeffrey is also a talented photographer and sculptor, both skills which he has applied to creating and envisioning the golfing landscape.  His ability to manage projects and seamlessly integrate the natural environment into the golf course is rare combination to find among golf course shapers and architects.

Jeffrey's broad experience working all over the United States and several international projects in Brazil, Uruguay, New Zealand, and England highlight his versatility as a capable and thoughtful manager.  His willingness to travel and learn has allowed Jeffrey to rise among golf course shapers as one of the most promising golf architects in the business.  He has worked on several award winning projects for some of the best architects of the past 20 years, including Bill Coore, Ben Crenshaw, Gil Hanse, and Mike DeVries.  Jeffrey's track record among the best architects in the business is proof of his ability to adapt and learn in different environments, making him a strong candidate to take on any design project large or small.

Jeffrey has also performed renovation work on a high level including several projects for Top 100 golf courses including Merion, Quaker Ridge, and Garden City Mens Club.  He has gone to work on other award winning projects including Jim Urbina's 'renovation of the year' at Paramount Golf Club in New York and Kyle Franz's 2013 'best renovation' at Mid Pines, in North Carolina.

Jeffrey is a talented architect, project manager, and shaper with unique artistic talents that can take any project to that next level of success and recognition.  He is firmly within the camp of design and build golf architecture which ensures the highest level of attention to design, detail, and budget.  When selecting Stein Golf Design for your next project you will be choosing an architect with the experience and knowledge, not only on paper, but in the dirt as well.
