Our Start
In 2009, Jeffrey Stein was selected to work with Tom Doak's prestigious Renaissance Golf Design, working on projects at Bandon Dunes and Dismal River. Since then, he has participated at projects at the likes of Merion, Quaker Ridge, and and several international golf developments. These experiences left a lasting impression on his personal design philosophy and created a platform upon which to rise within the field of golf course design. Jeffrey's broad experience working all over highlight his versatility as a capable and thoughtful manager.

Jeffrey Stein
Jeffrey Stein is the sole owner of Stein Golf Design LLC, based in Port Chester, NY. His career began in 2009 as an intern for Tom Doak's Renaissance Golf Design. From that time he has received world class training in field design, construction, and project management while working as an independent design associate. Learning from the best architects in the business Stein has fully immersed himself in the art of golf design and is constantly pursuing new opportunities to do great work.
A 2008 graduate of Brandeis University, Jeffrey earned a B.A. in economics while representing the school as captain of the golf team. After graduation Stein spent the next two years working around the world and studying golf courses. He has been across the United States, Scotland, England, Uruguay, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, New Zealand and Australia.
Jeffrey's diverse experience studying golf's great landscapes adds a unique perspective to any project with which he involves himself. His passion for golf and belief in hands on design makes him an asset to any project.
A Classic Approach
Jeffrey's general approach follows in the great tradition of hands-on architects like A.W. Tillinghast, Pete Dye, Tom Doak, and Gil Hanse. From the first planning meetings to the last day of construction there is a constant dialogue between the client, architect, and builder as opportunities to achieve great design solutions unfold in the field. Jeffrey Stein carries on the design and build philosophy through a nuanced understanding of golf design strategies and construction techniques, personally implementing ideas into reality.
Jeffrey spent time as an intern at Renaissance Golf Design, along with other notable architects Gil Hanse, Mike DeVries, Will Smith, Chris Hunt, and George Waters.
